Central City Republican Nonpariel newspaper obituary -- Dale E. Zikmund, 55, of Central City died on Sunday, 18 August, 2002, at his home. Services were Thursday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Central City. Burial is in Calvary Cemetery in Omaha. Memorials are suggested to the family. Wagner Funeral Home in Central City is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Zikmund was born 28 July 1947, in Omaha to Dr. Elno and Janaan (Rowan) Zikmund. He grew up in Central City and graduated from Central City High School in 1965. He attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, graduating in 1972 with a degree in business administration. He entered the United States Army in 1969, and served during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in August 1971.
He married Barbara Christensen in June 1970 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Central City. The couple lived in Monterey, Calif., Denver, Colorado and Central City where he worked for Christensen Cattle and Trucking Company for 28 years.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grand Island, the American Legion and was a lifetime member at Valley View Country Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working in his yard and many outdoor activities.
Survivors include his father; a son, Brett Zikmund of Central City; a daughter and son-in-law, Danelle and Greg Weeder of Auburn; three brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Judy Zikmund of Omaha, Stephen Zikmund of Omaha and Shane and Renee Zikmund of Lincoln; and a special friend, Gayla Nelsen of Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his mother.
Special memories are that he was Generous - Proud of his kids - Gentle - fun loving - selfless
