WINCHESTER - Rowena R. Bake, 103, of Winchester, IN passed away Wednesday evening, January 23, 2013 at Randolph Nursing Home of Winchester, IN.

She was born March 9, 1909 in Liberty, IN the daughter of Irving and Lora (Ross) LaFuze.

Rowena received her Bachelor's Degree from DePauw University and her Master Degree from Ball State University. She was a school teacher for twenty-one years with both, Union Schools and Randolph Southern Schools. She was a member of Winchester United Methodist Church, Randolph Co. Retired Teachers Association, Daughters of the American Revolution, Y's Owls of Winchester, Eastern Star and Farm Bureau.

She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Mary Sue Karstetter (husband, Bruce) of Las Vegas, NV, James Bake (wife, Martha) of Winchester, IN and Ronald Bake (wife, Carol) of LaCanada, CA; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a husband, Cecil Bake (1990); three sisters, Eloise MacDougal, Portia Lynch and Luanna Nossett.

A service to celebrate Rowena's life will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Thomas Memorial Chapel of Lynn, IN. Burial will follow in Fountain Park Cemetery of Winchester, IN.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 4-8 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2013 and one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

The family would like to express a thank you to Dr. Daniel Wegg and the staff of Randolph Nursing Home, for the special care Rowena received.
