Ernest W. (Pete) Walker was one of seven children born to John D. and Florence Hammons Walker. He was born in Bernie, Missouri in 1897. At an early age his family moved to Texas, settling in Houston County where he grew up. He attended the Viola School located in Belott.
In 1920 he married Emily Ola Wells. They had three children, John Mose in 1921, Mary Florence in 1922 and Dolly Evelyn in 1925. In 1934 they lost a daughter Annie Mae at birth. Pete was a farmer in Houston County near Ratcliff where he reared his family. He also worked for the U. S. Forestry Service in Ratcliff. He was a member of the Primative Baptist Church, a veteran of WWI, and a member of the Kennard Masonic Lodge.
Pete was survived by his son John Mose Walker, his daughter Dolly Jonas of Jacksonville, a brother George Walker of Belott, a sister Liller Conner of Trevatt, 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
