John P. Kurtz, Ex-Radio Singer of 1940's

John P. Kurtz, 62, of Route 33, Hamilton Square, died Thursday in Mercer Medical Center.

Born in New York City, Mr. Kurtz resided in the Robbinsville-Hamilton Square are for 40 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hamilton Square.

He was a life member of VFW Hightstown Post 5700 and DAV Joseph McNerney Chapter 41. In the late 1940's, he sang country and western music on WTTM and WTNJ radio stations.

Surviving are his wife, Bernice C. Kurtz; a son, John R. at home; two daughters, Cheryl Ann and Laurie May, both at home; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Schmidt of Reedsburg, Wis., and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St., Allentown. The Rev. John B. Hawes Jr., pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Hamilton Square, will officiate. Burial will be in Allentown Methodist Cemetery.

Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. DAV services will be held at 7:30 p.m., and VFW services will be held at 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to charity.
