Jane Marie Wall Brewer, 90, died August 25, 2008 at her home in Greenville, South Carolina.

Mrs. Brewer was born in Memphis, Tennessee to parents Dr. Raymond Roscoe Wall and Marie Sears Lockhart Wall. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Morgan Brewer Jr.; and her sister, Mildred Remy Wall McComas, both of Memphis.

After being raised in Memphis and working for Memphis Power and Light Company, Mrs. Brewer married and moved to Pine Bluff, Arkansas and then to New Orleans, Louisiana. After her husband's death, Mrs. Brewer relocated to Greenville. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Churches of Pine Bluff and New Orleans and of First Presbyterian Church in Greenville. Her life reflected her Christian commitment. As a faithful Christian servant, she served many years as a Sunday School teacher to youth, especially mentoring young women, was a member of The Women of the Church, and a volunteer with the Greenville Hospital Auxiliary.

Mrs. Brewer was a beloved mother to four children and cherished as "Nannie" to grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Brewer is survived by daughter, Jane Brewer Sykes and her husband William Barber Sykes Jr.; and three sons, William Morgan Brewer III and his wife, Suzie, of New Orleans, Louisiana, John Raymond Brewer and his wife, Jane, of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Richard Allen Brewer and his wife, Tracy, of Matthews, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, William (Will) Barber Sykes III and his wife Sydney, Jane Wall Sykes, Julie Brewer Habetz and her husband Scott, Lindsay Jane Brewer, Scott Raymond Brewer, Todd Garrett Purvis and his wife Ann, Jamie Purvis Haushalter and her husband Ryan, and Scottie Marie Purvis; and five great-grandchildren, William Barber Sykes IV, Joseph Craven Sykes, Margaret Remy Sykes, Brooke Elizabeth Habetz, and Eleanore Scott Habetz.

Her family gives thanks to faithful and loving friends who cared for her for many years, Jackie Smith, Sonja Jordan, Lisha Jordan, and Inga Moton, and Hospice of Interim Healthcare.

Celebration of Mrs. Brewer's life and homegoing will be in the chapel at First Presbyterian Church of Greenville at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2008, with a private graveside service afterwards.

The family will be at the home of Jane and Bill Sykes, 80 Woodvale Avenue, Greenville.
