TYNER - Cotter Bright ``C.B.'' White Sr., 84, of the 700 block of Sandy Ridge Road died Nov. 28, 1996, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
He was a native of Chowan County and a member of Center Hill United Methodist Church. Mr. White was the retired owner and operator of Tyner Service Station. He was also the owner of C.B. White's Pecan Cracking Service and a farmer. He was the 1933 class president at Chowan High School. Mr. White was the son of the late Joseph Timothy and Bertha Cofield White and the husband of Mrs. Gladys B. White of Tyner.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter and her husband, Novella W. and Anson Knowles of Norfolk; two sons and their wives, C.B. and Patsy White Jr. of Suffolk and Tim and Linda White of Tyner; a stepson and his wife, Joseph F. and Claudia Roberts of Tyner; a sister, Camilla Horton of East Providence, R.I.; a brother, Henley White of Zachary, La.; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Anson and Thersa Knowles Jr. of Chesapeake, Timothy and Debra Knowles of Franklin, Elizabeth and Tony Edens of Manteo, Mark and Michelle White of Charleston, S.C., Trevor and Angel White of Shawville, Va., Jay and Lori White of Edenton, Nicole and William Flynn of Edenton, and Caren and Joey Roberts of Tyner; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and many friends and other relatives.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Tom Fleck and the Rev. Ralph Epps. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Center Hill United Methodist Church.
