He was born in Oklahoma City and lived in California before moving to Oregon in 1962. He worked for Salem City Parks until retiring in 1998. He then worked seasonally. He was a member of Turner Pentecostal Church of God and enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Jonell, whom he married in 1952; daughters, Sheila Olin, Debra Canoy, Linda Gonzales and Becky Anker, all of Salem; son, Steven of Salem; brothers, Tom of Christmas Valley and Roy of Winters, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors. Interment will be in Belcrest Memorial Park.
