She was born Feb. 28, 1907, in Mart and married Neal Chastain on June 16, 1929, in Stamford. He died Jan. 5, 1975.
She had lived in Spur since 1933, where she worked alongside her husband in the pharmacy business for many years. She was named Citizen of the Year in 1990 by the Spur Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7212. She was on the board of directors of Spur Memorial Cemetery, where she served as secretary/treasurer from 1986 until 2000. She was a member of the Garden Club, several bridge clubs and First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Neal Jr. of Lamesa; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
