John Ainsworth was the son of Samuel Ainsworth and Margaret Young. His father settled in Hanover Twp. in about 1736 and John was born shortly afterwards there. His brother Lazarus died in Mar 1777, without issue. John married Margaret Mayes, the daughter of James Mayes, in 1764
A "Samuel Ainsworth" married a "Margaret M'Ewen on 10 May 1792, at Old Hanover Church.

Plus on page 30: "Widow Ainsworth" was a church member 1813-1827; Samuel Ainsworth, 1795-1797; John Ainswroth, 1788-1812; Lazarus Ainsworth, 1796-1802 and James Ainsworth, 1797-1803. This includes a John and a Samuel, who appear to be two different men. Plus on page 35 on 6 Apr 1797, a James and a John Ainsworth were assessed money for the building of the graveyard wall, commensurate with their county taxes.
Wife of Margaret. Gravestone says: In Memory of John Ainsworth who departed this life August 14 1812 aged 72 years
