Birth: Apr. 2, 1649
Death: Nov. 5, 1730
Essex County
New Jersey, USA

Azariah Crane (1649-1730) began life as a tanner by trade but later on became Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church of Newark, New Jersey. He also was a founder of Cranetown (later known as Montclair), New Jersey. Perhaps he is best remembered for bequeathing a silver bowl "to be used forever" to the church, where he served as Deacon from 1690 to 1730. The bowl is still available for viewing today.
