We adopted Goof in 2001 from a veterinary clinic. He was a blood donor who was ready to retire. He was adopted to someone else who brought him back after 3 days because they never saw him. He stayed hidden the whole time. We adopted him and he found his hiding place behind the office desk. He only came out to eat and use the litter box at night when no one was around. I didn't see him for a week until he started to creep out when I was the only one home. He quickly became less and less shy and stopped hiding. He turned out to be the silliest cat and he always made us laugh. That is how he became "Goof". He always came running when you called out "Goof Goof."
In June 2012, he was diagnosed with kidney failure. He had some ups and downs over the last year, but overall was doing pretty well. In May 2013, he started declining. He was eating well and still talking to us and following us around. His last week, we was becoming more and more weak, then one morning he could barely stand up. I knew then it was time to let him go. This house will not be same without silly Goof Goof making us laugh. He will always be remembered for his shy humor.
