Although born in Buxton, Maine, became a Confederate officer. Attended South Carolina Military Academy. Became a lawyer. Captain and aide to General T.R.R. Cobb. Mortally wounded at Fredericksburg while standing next to Gen. Cobb. Leg was amputated, but died the next day.
