BOWER, GLADYS, MARIA TOLLINCHE Embraced by the arms of Our Lord,Gladys Maria Tollinche Bower, born January 6, 1920 in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico passed into Paradise on October 9, 2005.

The Beloved mother of eight children, seven surviving, she was married to David William Bower, Sr. for 59 years. Mimo was blessed with seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Gladys was one of thirteen children raised by Tuburcio and Rafaela Tollinche on a coffee plantation in Puerto Rico. At the age of 22 she met then Lieutenant David W. Bower and after a two year courtship they were married in Ponce, Puerto Rico. After the birth of their first daughter, Kathleen, in Puerto Rico, they traveled to Austin, Texas, where David, Senior was stationed at Bergstrom AFB. From there they moved throughout the U.S. and abroad on active duty. The remaining children are Kathy, Bonita, Linda, Suzie, Rita, George, and David. Upon David Sr.'s retirement from the Air Force, the family settled in the White Rock area.

After successfully raising her seven children from home, she began a long and highly recognized sales career with the May Company. She was a top "Red Rose" producer at the long standing Lord & Taylor store in North Park Mall in Dallas, where she worked for 27 years in men's furnishings. Everyone who had the opportunity to meet Gladys realized just how special and loving a person can be. Most of her associates called her "Mama" out of affection for her truly caring and vivacious personality. She literally would light up a room with her radiant smile and sheer beauty. Her passionate nature revolved around Latin music as well as popular songs. She was vibrant and full of life and had a great sense of humor.

She attended Eastfield Junior College and was a long time member of St. Pius Catholic Church in Dallas. She was a very devoted Catholic and memorials can be made to St. Pius Church.

Services will be held, Wednesday, October 12, 2005, 1:30PM, at Restland Wildwood Chapel. She will be laid to rest at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas in the Garden of Memories in the Bower family area. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Mrs. Bower to The St. Vincent De Paul Society, C/O St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3030 Gus Thomasson, Dallas, TX 75228.
