Death: Jan. 12, 1981

Rex Gale Bloomfield was one of eight children born to Joseph William Bloomfield and Olive Parintha Gale. He lived in Arizona, New Mexico and Wyoming. He met his wife, Rhoda Marian Bjerke while living in Cody, Wyoming while attending a dance at the Aermican Legion Hall in Powell, Wyoming. When he was unable to find work in 1937 in New Mexico, he and a friend went searching for work and found work in the oil fields of Wyoming. He worked in the oil fields in Elk Basin, Wyoming, Oregon Basin, Wyoming and Grass Creek, Wyoming for the Ohio Oil Company which later became known as the Marathon Oil Company retiring in 1976 after 38 years. He lived in Cody, Wyoming and Thermopolis, Wyoming while working in the oil fields.

After being drafted into the Army in 1943, and serving for eleven months in WWII, Rex would received a medical discharge for health reasons. During this time he was stationed at Camp Roberts, California for basic training.

He enjoyed woodworking. His home contained many pieces of furniture which he made. In addition to furniture, he made inlaid card tables, cutout lamp shades, cutout wall plaques, inlaid nut bowls and inlaid fruit bowls. He learned how to work with wood from his father who was a carpenter.

Rex always loved being out of doors and could often be found boating or fishing or camping or working in his yard.

He served as a Home Teacher, Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Superintendent, Ward Clerk, Ward Magazine Representative and Assistant High Priest Group Leader.

He was a quiet man and was loved by all his family and friends.

When Rex Gale Bloomfield was born Lordsburg was part of Grant County New Mexico. Hidalgo became its own county when it was created in 1919.
