Bertie Lou Herring, age 91, wife of the late Henry David Herring, died on Wednesday, November 14, 2012.
A native of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late James and Marize Whitley Patat. She retired from Blue Bell Textiles, and was a member of Oakgrove Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Ernest Guest; four brothers; three sisters; a grandson, Bobby Chance Casper; and her first husband, Joe C. Guest.
Survivors include her children, Joe (Betty) Guest, James (Katie) Guest, Pete Guest, Jerry R. (Evelyn) Guest, Beatrice Tench, Edward A. (Kim) Guest, Stanley L. Guest, Nancy L. (Kenny) Casper, and Henry David Herring Jr.; sister, Ann (John) Adams; brothers, William B. and James C. Shelton; 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 16, at the funeral home.
The body will lie in state at Oakgrove Baptist Church beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. with the Revs. Jim Owens and Wesley Guest officiating. Burial will follow at Vineyard Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville, is in charge of the arrangements. www.lordandstephens.com
