Presbyterian minister; served at First Presbyterian Church in New Albany, Indiana for 25 years (1878-1903); married first Adeline Rebecca Ekin (1842-1881); married Florence Cornelia Day 30 Dec 1885 in New Albany, Indiana; two children from his first marriage -- Dr. Andrew Allison Clokey and Gertrude "Kitty" Hudson; two children from his second marriage, one dying as an infant, the other being Dr. Joseph Waddell Clokey, nationally known composer and professor of organ/church music; strong advocate for temperance and women's suffrage; his grandson, Arthur Charles Clokey (adopted son of his son Joseph) was the creator of "Gumby," clay animation icon
