Oregon Grace Grabill was born 10 March 1903 in Hamilton Township, Harrison County, Missouri to Samuel Washington and Birdie Estelle Thrailkill Grabill. She was the second child of 7. Her siblings were Opal Grabill Kelly; Hazel Grabill Evans; Mary Belle Grabill; Garland Samuel Grabill; Margaret Leona Grabill Lark; and Leland Keith Grabill. Oregon grew up on the family farm, the home of her father's family, grandparents, and great grandparents who homesteaded that farm. She attended rural school at Pawnee.
"Orgie," as she was familiarly called, married Verd Hobbs (b. 1900) and had 5 children, 4 of those reaching adulthood: Erma Lee, Birdie, Paul, and Kendall Roy. An infant son, Arlo Cole Hobbs died at age 1 year, 1 month, and 18 days of bronchial pneumonia.
Verd died in 1955 and was buried in the Highland Cemetery, Eagleville, Harrison County, Missouri. Orgie died 31 March 1977, at Ottumwa, Iowa, and is buried beside her husband.
