Mrs. Mae A. Fentress, 82 years old, 1805 North A Street, Fort Smith, Arkansas died Monday night, November 13, 1967 in a local hospital following a short illness. A lifelong resident of Fort Smith, she was owner of Fentress Mortuary and wife of Oscar Fentress who died in 1948. She was a member of Central Presbyterian church, Business and Professional Women's Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, Order of Eastern Star, Worthy Matrons Club, Woodmen of the World, Y.W.C.A. and life member of the Salvation Army.
She was also the FIRST woman Embalmer for the state of Arkansas.
Survivors are a brother, Douglas of Fort Smith; and two sisters, Mrs. Crane of Fort Smith and Blanche of Kansas City, Missouri; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held in Central Presbyterian church Thursday at 10 a.m. with the pastor, Roy Smith, officiating. Burial was in Forest Park cemetery.
