Marjorie Miller

January 18, 1926 ~ August 30, 2013

Marjorie Mae Eipper Miller, of Montrose, Co., passed away August 30, 2013 at her home. She was born January 18, 1926 to Elmer and Lillian Mae (Bretherton) Eipper at Montrose. Marjorie spent her childhood on Spring Creek Mesa and the Montrose area and graduated from Montrose High School. She went on to Western State University in Gunnison and received her Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry.

At the age of 23, Marjorie married Robert W. Miller on June 9, 1949 at Lions Park in Montrose. Throughout their married life they resided in White Canyon, UT, Uravan, CO., Grants, NM (where they raised their children) and Thoreau, N.M. before moving back to Montrose after retirement. Marjorie was active in the Methodist Church throughout their travels where she often served by playing the piano and organ. They have been active members of the United Methodist Church of Montrose for many years. Marjorie was a member of the A.A.U.W., Garden Club, various church committees, Sunshine Circle, and the Western State Alumni Association. Marjorie helped organize her high school reunion events. Spending time with family was always special especially the time she spent with her 9 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed prospecting, reading, sewing and traveling. She loved her pets, both dogs and cats.

Surviving family members include her husband, Robert Miller of Montrose; son John E.M. (Mildred) Miller of Farmington, N.M; two daughters Lillian M. (Bob) Shaw of Taos, N.M., and Marian M. (Dave) Atkins of Belle Fourche, S.D; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Eugene Eipper; and sister Isabel Marshall.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church of Montrose, in memory of Marjorie Miller, 19 S. Park St., Montrose, Co. 81401, or the Montrose Animal Shelter, 3383 N. Townsend, Montrose, Co. 81401

A Memorial Service in celebration of Marjorie's life will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at the United Methodist Church of Montrose. The service will conclude at the Church. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Grand View Cemetery, West of Montrose. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Co
