Mr. Roberts was a leader in Calhoun County agriculture and youth work for a number of years. He was past president of the Calhoun County Cattlemen's Association and the Calhoun County Poultry Association. Mr. Roberts was the first agriculturist to enter the poultry business in Calhoun County. He served as a volunteer leader for many years with the County Cooperative Extension 4-H programs as well as the 4-H Foundation. In 1982 he received the Alabama Resource and Leadership Development Award presented by The Alabama Cooperative Extension Service. Mr. Roberts provided civic leadership as a founding member of the White Plains Civilian Club and was a former trustee at White Plains School. He retired from Coosa Valley Production Credit Association. He was a charter member of Chosea Springs Baptist Church.
