Shelton Clement Till III, 75, died peacefully at home on August 26, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born October 28, 1932 in Jacksonville, Florida to Shelton C. Till Jr. and Beatrice Powell Till. He spent much of his childhood growing up in Jacksonville and lived in Penney Farms during World War II. In 1957 he married VeNae Bryan; they were married for 51 years. He graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1958.
Shelton Till was a mechanical engineer for Boeing for 40 years. He lived in Delaware for 14 years and Washington State for over 30 years. Shelton spent many years involved in community and church sports: running tournaments, coaching basketball and softball teams, and refereeing. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in various callings, including teaching Sunday School to the youth for several years. He was especially known for his sense of humor, quick wit, friendliness and generosity.
He is survived by his wife, VeNae Till; seven children, Kevin Till (Linda), Robin Despain (Bryan), Trudy Woodworth (Mark), Tracy Johnston (Stuart), Teresa Hougland (Edward), Michele Baker (Larry), and Steven Till (Meghan); 24 grandchildren; two great-grand-children; and brothers, Eugene Powell Till and Leroy Porter Till.
Viewing will be from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m., on Saturday, August 30, 2008, at the Mill Creek LDS Chapel, 16124 35th Ave SE. Funeral Service will be held at the same location at 11:00 a.m.
