Malinda was the daughter of Thomas and Margaret Vint McQuain. Malinda was first married to James F. Keister on September 16, 1858 in Pendleton Co., VA. Malinda and James had two daughters; Frances and Mahulda Keister.
James F. Keister's military record shows in 1861 his age was 26 and he was assigned to the Twenty-fifth Virginia Infantry (Heck's Regiment). His place of death was "ZZ, hhh," per military records. Does Anyone know what the code means?
Following James' death, Malinda married, Peter Hyer on May 12, 1864, in Pendleton Co., WV, by S. H. Griffith. Peter and Malinda had four daughters; Sally Hyer Leach, Virginia S. Hyer Hendricks, Nora B. Hyer Argenbright and Carrie Hyer Diehl.
