Ralph Bruning a Tornado Victim.
Ralph Bruning, son of Herman & Florence Bruning. nee Groshong. was born in St. Louis, March 29, 1901. On March 29, 1922, he was married to Miss Marie Owen who passed away September 18, 1923. On June 15th, 1927, he was married to Eva Belle Ward at St Louis by Rev. J. G. Reese. He was at his place of business at 3854 Easton Avenue, when the terrible cyclone struck St Louie September 29th, about 1:00 p. m. His place of business was demolished. He was seriously injured and was taken to the Baptist Hospital, where he underwent an operation for a crushed skull. At 12:20 a. m. September 30th, 1927, he passed away in his 27th year. His brother. Clyde, and brother-in-law, Carl Hess, were also in the garage and were injured, but not seriously. His departure is mourned by his wife, mother and father, brother, sister, sister-in-law, brother-in-law and a great many other relatives and friends.
The funeral took place October 2 at 1:30 p. m. from the Ind. Evangelical Protestant church, Fair and Margaretta Avenue, St Louis. Rev. Reese delivered the funeral sermon, after which the remains were taken to Lake Charles Park cemetery for Interment. The pallbearers were: Lawrence Schlueter, Raymond Kast, Albert Hinges, Herbert Blattner, Joe Hay, Earl Green. --Contributed.
The following relatives and friends from Wright City and vicinity attended the funeral: Mr/Mrs. Jessie Bruning and daughter, Verneal. Mr/Mrs. H. J. Bruning, Mr/Mrs. W. E. Bruning and son, Melvln, Mr/Mrs. Walter Bruning, Mrs. Emma Schaper, Mr/Mrs. Harry Bruning, Mr/Mrs. Herman Bruning, Joe Groshong, Mr/Mrs. Ed. Gerdeman, Mr/Mrs. Jake Minges, Fred Ordelhelde, Miss Hazel Worley. Mrs. N. W. Williams and son, Loudon. Ralph was well known In this locality, having spent a number of years with his parents on a farm in the vicinity southeast of town and later in Wright City. He has been employed in St. Louis the past few years and about four years ago he entered the garage business, the building, as stated above, being demolished by the cyclone in St. Louis September 29th. The many friends of Ralph and his family extend heartfelt sympathy to them in this tragic bereavement. To us the apparently untimely death of this young man is not under-standable, but he "who doeth all things well" knows what is best for us all. Some day, some time we will understand.
