Wood was the son of Teresa (Richey) and Thomas Jefferson Campbell. He and Lindy Hitson were married on March 2, 1893 at Urbana, Missouri. Lindy and Wood had a large family of 12 children. Listed in order: Sanford, Jeff, Orvin, Lonnie, Bill, Monnie, Ralph, Oren, Walter, Earl, John and Neola.

Wood was a Baptist and later Pentecostal minister. He was held in high regard and was an inspiration and role model for many of his family and everyone else who was blessed to know him. My mother thought the world of her Uncle Wood and Aunt Lindy.
