Railroad brakeman

FORT WORTH - Joe T. Andrews, a retired brakeman for the T&P Railway, died Sunday at an Arlington hospital. He was 79.

Funeral with Eastern Star rites will be at 2 p.m. today at Laurel Land Funeral Home in Fort Worth.

Masonic graveside service will be in Laurel Land Memorial Park.

Mr. Andrews was born in Scurry County and attended Snyder High School.

He had lived in Fort Worth since 1930 and retired in 1970 after 32 years with the railroad.

Mr. Andrews was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Arlington. He was a past master of Deer Creek Masonic Lodge, No. 510, a member of Scottish Rite Bodies, Moslah Shrine Temple, El Texa Grotto, South Side Chapter and Council, Grand Commandery Knights Templar of Texas and Order of the Eastern Star, Everman Chapter No. 624.

Survivors: Wife, Madylene Andrews of Fort Worth; five sons, David T. Andrews of Fort Worth, John Ed Andrews and Steven E. Andrews, both of Arlington, Joe T. Andrews Jr. of Houston and Al Dusek of Quanah; daughter, Carolyn Sauls of Russellville, Ark.; sister, Edith McMinn of Houston; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
