On May 28, 1960 she married Bill Kern who was himself divorced. Bill was the father of two children and was a barber by trade. He had a successful shop in downtown Kansas City, Kansas. In 1960 Aunt Virginia was working for the Social Security Administration. After they married, they bought a cute little house on North 51st Street. Like her apartment, it was decorated beautifully. I loved visiting her and never turned down an invitation.
In 1978 they move to Bella Vista, Arkansas where they lived for 16 years. Aunt Virginia retired as a claims representative for the SSA in 1981. After retirement she loved making ceramics and crafts and going to craft shows. They had many friends and really enjoyed their retirement years. After Uncle Bill passed away, Aunt Virginia moved back to apartment life Kansas City where she remained until she passed away at Menorah Medical Center.
Aunt Virginia was our very special aunt. We all loved her! She was beautiful and had an infectious laugh. She was talented and loving and she adored all of her nieces and nephews. We all miss her so very much.
