Uniontown Nurse Dies in France

First Lieutenant Grace M. Dito, 29, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dito of 48 Murphy street, Uniontown, died in France April 14, the War Department notified the parents. The Uniontown nurse, a graduate of North Union Township High School in 1933 and St. John's Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsburgh in 1936, entered the Army Nurse Corps in 1942, and went overseas on December, 1943. She was promoted to first lieutenant December 21, last. The nurse is survived by her parents, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral Friday For Nurse Who Died in France

Arriving tonight in Uniontown will be the body of First Lieutenant Grace M. Dito of the U.S. Army Nursing Corps, who died April 14, 1945, in France. She was a daughter of Carl and Jessie Jenneway Dito of 356 Connellsville street, Uniontown, and a granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Jenneway of Mount Braddock. Lieutenant Dito was graduated from North Union Township High School with the Class of 1933 and received her nursing degree at St. John's Hospital, Pittsburgh. Prior to her induction in 1942 she nursed at hospitals in Lodi, Ohio, St. Luke's at Chicago and the Uniontown Hospital. Besides her parents she is survived by two brothers, Andrew of Youngstown, Ohio, and Carl, Jr., of Aliquippa and two sisters, Mrs. Marie Reagan of Youngstown, Ohio, and Mrs. Frances Plickta of Uniontown. Friends will be received at the DeCarlo funeral home, Uniontown, after 5:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. The funeral service will be held Friday morning with a prayer at the funeral home at 9:30 o'clock. Requiem high mass will be celebrated at 10 o'clock in St. Therese R. C. Church with Rev. Ettore Moscolini, pastor, officiating. Burial will be made in Sylvan Heights Cemetery with military rites at the grave.
