Jonathan Buck was born in 1751 in Sharon, Litchfield County, Connecticut (birthdate and location of birth from pension application) of English heritage. He volunteered in 1776/77 in the Revolutionary War and served in the company of Captain Amos Rogers and Colonel Enos. He received a pension S3108 and was approved by the DAR as a patriot on membership 746842 in 1997 and with that approval the DAR changed their records to show Irena as his wife. Jonathan was the father of Walter Buck and two daughters unknown. After the war he lived in Monkton, Addison County, Vermont; Elizabethtown, Essex County, New York; and Huron County later Lorain County, Ohio where he died after September 1840 (last pension check). He was listed with his grandson Truman Buck on the 1840 Lorain County, Ohio census.

See Valerie Buck-Yoder 2018 on Ancestry for an accurate portrayal. Jonathan's wife was NOT Mary Breckenridge. That Mary (born 1782 New York) and her husband Jonathan Buck(born 1772 Bennington Co, VT, died 1853) died in Herkimer County, New York and he was too young to be in the Revolutionary War. All trees on Ancestry, Familysearch, etc... with Mary Breckenridge as his wife are wrong! All SAR (Sons of the American Revolution) applications/records with Mary as his wife are wrong! The DAR has changed their data to wife Irena, but Mary Breckenridge still shows up on old applications.

See land deeds of the Patriot and his answers on Jonathan Buck's pension papers as to where he has lived. His pension application was in Ohio.
