Richard Gilpin Buckingham was one of 5 children of Alban * Mary Jeanes (Eastburn) Buckingham.

He served in the Civil war as a Sgt Major and was wounded near Boydton Plank, VA on 31 Mar 1865. After the war he married.

His first marriage was on 16 Nov 1865 to Sarah A Mote. His second marriage was on 14 Mar 1884 to Adeline Cranston.
Both wives are also buried in this cemetery.

Richard and Sarah had 3 children:

Delsworth, 1866-1951, m. A. Klair
Richard Gilpin, Jr., 1871-1950, m. E. Owen, 2 ch
Mary, 1875-1965, m. John Leslie Eastburn

Richard was a farmer and member of the Delaware State Legislature. He also had a keen interest in genealogy and shared his Buckingham family knowledge with many others.

Richard had a long life and is buried between his two wives.
