Randall Hunt Bryant died at his home in the town of Hudson, Wisc. July 20, 1885. Mr. Bryant was born in Lyons, Ontario Co, N.Y., Sept 18th, 1806. His parents moved to Cincinnati, Ohio when he was 16 years of age. At the age of 19, he learned the printers' trade of his brother, Charles Bryant, who conducted the Crawfordville Record. Afterwards he became a soldier in Capt. Ashton's Company, Col. Moore's Regiment of Indiana Volunteers for the Black Hawk War.

In 1833, he published a paper in Danville, Illinois and was married in that place, Aug. 20, 1834 to Elizabeth Heydon Murphy. He moved to Milwaukee in 1835 and printed the first paper in that city, "The Milwaukee Sentinel." He also made the first brick in that city. In 1848 he moved to a large farm in Dane County, Wisconsin ten miles from Madison, and in 1856 purchased 720 acres of land in Hudson, St. Croix Co. Wisconsin, and took up his residence in Hudson, from which time up to 1883 he was crier in the circuit court, and for years had practiced healing by electricity.

One year ago he celebrated his golden wedding which was said to be a very enjoyable affair. He received many dollars in gold from friends living in the city. Although very feeble, Mr. Bryant received his numerous friends right pleasantly and proposed a sentiment that follows: "Matrimony in pleasant autumn; May it always bear gold fruit." He was a man of many good impulses and character, and was highly esteemed and respected by all who knew him. (The Crawfordville Harold, Crawfordville, Indiana)
