Keziah Williamson

The photographs taken are of unmarked graves in the plot, the yellow entry page is from Bridgeville Cemetery records, undated but believed to have been written in the 1960s when the tract was transferred to Electa Williamson Hammond & Wilma Williamson Jones.

The "Grandmother Williamson" would be Keziah, the mother of Peter and grandmother to Electa and Wilma. The records were just provided to me on August 31, 2021. The Bridgeville Cemetery opened up in 1875. The gravesite photo consists of 8 plots bought in one lot most likely in 1883 by her son, Peter, when Keziah died.

The Adams Undertaking Records in 1883 verify that the "Estate of Keziah" purchased her casket and services, but does not mention where she was interred. Her son, Peter, most likely bought the family plot when his mother died. His daughters stated to the new record keepers in the 1960s, it was their understanding that their father, Peter, and their "Grandmother Williamson" were buried in two unmarked graves within this group of 8. It is important to note this group of 8 is in Section A, the oldest section of the cemetery, and that there are no records available in the 1800s. Hardesty Funeral Home began in 1895 in Bridgeville, and sometime after 1900 began keeping the records of the cemetery. There has not been a grounds test to determine if the other "empty plots" in this group of 8 are actually unmarked graves.
