Wife of Former Local Pastor Dies
Word has been received in Rock Springs of the death of Mrs. O.P. (Emma) Avery, who died Oct. 20, in Claremont, Calif.
She was the wife of the late Rev. O.P. Avery, who was minister of the Congregational Church here in the middle 1930s.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 23, in the chapel of her church in Claremont. The service was written by her son, the Rev. O.P. Avery, and was read by the minister. The Rev. Avery gave a eulogy of his mother's life.
Survivors are two sons, the Rev. O.P. Avery, Turkey, and Stanton Avery, California, and one daughter, Mrs. Martha J. Vander Veen, Sierra Madre, Calif., and six grandchildren.
Emma was a second cousin once removed of poet Emily Dickinson.
