I got Max as a replacement for my Mojo who died October 16 2010 from a snakebite.
He was a CKC registered Rat Terrier type B or Teddy Roosevelt. He was so tiny. He was only 4 1/2 weeks old when we got him, really too young to sell but he kind of chose us. The man let my son hold him and he kind of "stuck" to him with his toenails. We all fell in love with him because he looked so much like our Mojo. We also got an older puppy that day that we named Ruby.
Max was a character. He chewed on the corners of things, dug holes in the sheet rock, tore paper to shreds but we adored him. He slept with his tongue hanging out and walked around with it stuck out. He was the funniest puppy in the world,
Max bred Ruby on April Fools Day of 2011 when I thought I was doing such a good job of keeping them apart. On Memorial Day they had three of the prettiest puppies there ever were. Since Ruby and the puppies were taking over the sleeping quarters, Max had to sleep with me on my bed. When he needed to get up in the mornings, he would walk on me and lick my face until I woke up and let him out.
I let him out the morning of August 18, 2011 around 6 am like every other morning. When Ruby came back in a little while later he was nowhere to be found. My daughter found him about two hours later underneath our house, breathing but barely moving and she had to crawl under the house and drag him out. He had three wounds that we think were snakebites. He was pretty much paralyzed at this point and I knew from the past experience with Mojo that there was nothing we could do for him any more.
He passed away a little while later. We buried him in the yard beside our beloved Mojo. He will never be forgotten. He lives on in our hearts and in those precious puppies he left behind.
