Cooper
Another Osceola County Pioneer Passes Away.
Mrs. Mary R. Cooper was born in Osmego Co., New York, September 25, 1836 and died
at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. D. Root in Sherman Township May 22, 1912.
She was married in 1857 to Albert D. Cooper, also of New York state. In 1863
they came to Michigan and settled in Lapeer Co. In 1872 they moved to Osceola
county, where she resided at her death. To this union were born eight children,
six of whom survive. All were able to attend the funeral, except one daughter,
Mrs. H. P. Gray, of Nebraska.
Mr. Cooper died August 29, 1909.
She was a kind devoted mother and a sincere christian, and was a member of the
Baptist church of Avondale many years. All who knew her loved her. Besides her
children and other relatives she leaves a host of friend to mourn her loss.
The funeral services were held in the Baptist church at Avondale. Rev. Chas. F.
Grim officiating. Burial in Cherry cemeter.
A precious one from us is gone
A voice on earth is stilled
A place is vacant in our midst
That never can be filled.
