CSA Soldiers:
Mize, James A.
He was born 1847, d. 1914.
He enlisted Jul-1864 as a private in Company C, Hardee's Battalion. He is buried Liberty St. Clair County.
Mize--The Liberty Church of Odenville, Ala. has again been saddened by the loss of one of her best members. Mr. J.A. Mize, after a few months of suffering, passed from his earthly labors to his reward in heaven on Mar. 17. Mr. Mize was sixty- six years old. He professed Christ as his Saviour and joined the Libefrty church nearly fifty years ago, and had served as elder for something like forty years. I have been told that during his service as soldier through the Civil War, though not much more than a boy, he carried his Bible and read it regularly. Mr. Mize will be greatly missed, but the good influence of his life will still live to bless his church & community. He was faithful in his home, his church and the presbytery. In the absence of his pastor the funeral services were conducted by Rev. George Simpson, a life-long acquaintance and friend and the interment was at Liberty Cemetery on March 18. May the blessing of God abide with the bereaved widow, the sons and daughters, and may the children live to follow the good example of Mr. Mize. Rev. J.M. Alexander.
