North Augusta, SC…….Mr. Richard Lane Smith, 62, of Courtney Drive, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at University Hospital.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 3:00 pm in the Rowland Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.

Mr. Smith, a native of Dalton, GA, had lived in North Augusta since 1992.

He was a highly recommended engineer at SRS. He loved anything historical and loved being outdoors.

He was an avid member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and a Baptist. He will be remembered as a loving father and a great friend.

His survivors include two sons, Richard B. Smith and Bryson Lane Smith, both of North Augusta, SC; one brother, Wayne Smith (Cathy) of Dalton, GA; and one niece, Stephanie Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd & Eva Mae Smith.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the E. Porter Alexander Camp, Sons of Confederate Veterans.
