Ina Lee Daniel, a long time Duncan resident, went to be with the Lord peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, February 16, 2012, in Harrah, Oklahoma.
Lee was born on February 29, 1928, in Kenefic, Oklahoma to William and Mattie Bullard. She attended Pirtle School near Durant, Oklahoma, where she enjoyed playing basketball and softball.
She and her husband, Junior, ran the Sonic Drive-In in Duncan in the late 60's and early 70's. She then owned and operated a drive-in in Marlow, worked at Stotts's Convenience Store in Marlow, and retired from Cables Meat Center after 21 years of service at the age of 79. She considered Tom Wheat and her friends from Cables as part of her extended family.
Lee enjoyed watching sports, especially the Atlanta Braves baseball team, NASCAR events, and Oklahoma State football and basketball. She could count on receiving something representing one of her favorite sports' teams every birthday or Christmas. She loved her family and family get-togethers and was a great source of strength and encouragement to them. She particularly enjoyed reading to her grandchildren when they were little. Growing up, they knew that Granny was always available when they needed someone to talk to. She loved reading, especially her Bible. She was blessed with great neighbors for the past 45 years on North "L" Street. She volunteered at the Compassion Clinic operated by the Chisholm Trail Church of Christ, and was a long-time member of the Parkview Baptist Church. More than anything, she loved the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William & Mattie Bullard; brothersJay, Jack, and Leamon; sisters Kittie Mae, Mikie, Ruby, and Alma; grandson Denny Watson; husband, Junior; and one son, Donald Ray.
Lee is survived by her daughters Rhea Harris of the home; Debbie (Gibson) Smith, Midwest City; Gayle (Gibson) and husband Dan Campbell of Harrah; Annie (Daniel) Bennet and husband Roger of Duncan; sons William (Bill) Owen Gibson, Oklahoma City; Bill (Tinker) Richards and wife Denise, Stillwater; grandchildren Kristie, Kelli and Ryan; Matthew and Mikey; Brandi and Matt; Shelli and Curtis; Ashley and Weston; Jeremy and Jessica; Joshua and Courtney; Brooke, Ashton, and Abigayle; Michael and Lacey; and Hunter; great-grandchildren Baylee, Kaytlin, Beth Ann, Ty, Jayce, Brylee, and Teegan; one sister-in-law, Addie Bullard, Marlow, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends including Darla Bullard, Holly Harrison, Tom Herlacher and Chuck Ott. Mamma never met a stranger as was evidenced by the friends who often shared in our family holidays and special occasions.
The family will receive friends at the Don Grantham Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00PM. Memorial services will be held at Parkview Baptist Church on Monday, February 20, 2012, at 10:00AM.
