Michael Lawson aka Mickey passed away at Life Care Center of Lawrenceville from complications of Parkinson's.

Mick's ashes were scattered in the North Georgia Mountains.

Mick was a devout lover and player of Chess, he will be missed by his friends, J.T.Tharp, Chuck Johnson, Sammy Archer,Troy Archer, Dakota Powers, Darrion Farley, Shane Smith, Steve Wilson, Robert Wilson, Ade Edwards, Anthony Edwards, and Dennis Taylor. - The Bishops of Battle Chess Club

"Played tournament chess in 1970's. Renewed interest in 2003. lives in nursing home because of Parkinson's disease 18 years, now 63 years old and a mentor to a small group of players. Before 1990 I was an artist,picture framer, pro photogrpher and art installer. Still has a sharp mind and killer instinct in chess. Be wary when he's playing Sicilian. His favorite American hero is Gen. Robert E. Lee." - Mick Lawson
