After the war, he moved to Kansas and became a farmer. He married Sarah Elizabeth Blair on 26 March 1868 in Dickinson County, Kansas; the marriage record spells his surname incorrecty as Collier. They moved from Kansas to California about 1904 and engaged in orange growing.
