J. Merritt Ford, 88, of Aurora, IL went to be with his Lord at Rush-Copley Medical Center on Tuesday, December 23, 2003 after a brief illness. He was born June 12, 1915 to Jack and Ella Ford.
    He was employed by the Electro Motive Division of General Motors for 45 years until his retirement in 1980. He also operated his own Christmas tree business at his home on Fifth St. for 45 years. He was a 70 year member of the First Presbyterian Church in Aurora. He was also a member of the Jerusalem Temple Lodge #90 of the Masonic Order, the Golden Kiwanis, and the Third Ward Club.
    He is survived by two sons, Forrest (Kayla) Ford of Hinckley, IL and Garry (Martha) Ford of Aurora, IL; two grandsons Timothy and Jeremy, and three granddaughters Tammy, Sarah and Mary.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Ford and Ella (Brown) Ford; his wife Marian (Readey); brother, Herbert Ford; and sister, Dorothy Ford.
    Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 29, 2003 at 2 p.m. from The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Place, Aurora, IL with Rev. Richard Anderson and Pastor Bob Urquhart officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, December 29, 2003 from 4-8 p.m. at The Healy Chapel, Aurora and on Saturday from 1:30 p.m. until the service hour. Burial will take place at Spring Lake Cemetery in Aurora.
    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 325 E. Downer Place, Aurora, IL 60505 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
