Son of John William & Susannah (Fulmer) Hartman. Husband of Susannah (Stewart).

Mr. Harrison H. Hartman, one of the most highly esteemed citizens of Toby Township, died at his home last Thursday, June 27, 1901, aged 85 years, 6 months and 13 days, and his remains were laid to rest at the Reformed Church at Churchville on Saturday, Rev. F.M. Line the pastor officiating. Mr. Hartman was born in Columbia County, Pa., December 14, 1835, and when four years old came to Clarion County with his parents, who settled on the old homestead now owned by Lewis Hartman. On May 26, 1868 he was married to Miss Susan Stewart, daughter of the late Associate Judge Thomas Stewart. Eight children were born to this union, one of whom died in infancy. The other children and Mrs. Hartman survive to mourn thier great loss, and all were present at his bedside when he died except one. The children are; T.S. Hartman, Primrose, Pa.; S.E. Hartman, Stonedale, Pa.; Mrs. C.A. Henry, Nebraska, Pa.; Mrs. J.B. Rankin, Sligo; and Aaron, Allen and Miss Nora, at home. He is also survived by five brothers and one sister; Josiah and Lewis of Sligo, William of Leatherwood, Jackson of Curllsville and Aaron Hartman of Clarion Township and Rebecca Hartman who lived with the deceased. Mr. Hartman was for many years a devoted member of the Reformed Church and held the office of Elder therein for a long term. He was truly an upright, honorable man and a faithful christian. He always held the confidence of his neighbors and friends and served them in many local offices. His death is a great loss to the community. The stricken family and friends have the sympathy of all.
