Jul 31, 1896 Hoseman William H. Chapman, 55, Engine 1.

He was thrown from the drivers seat of the Engine and run over while responding to Box 134, at 1110 hours (Fifth & "D" Streets) for a fire in a stable at West 4th near "B" Streets.

He had 23 years service.
