Randolph Boyd enlisted on March 5, 1862, at Columbia, Alabama, for 3 years. He was captured at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, on July 5, 1863, and forwarded from Harrisburg to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on July 9, 1863. He was sent to Fort Delaware, Delaware, where he died of typhoid fever on November 30, 1863, as a Prisoner of War. His burial location was given as "Jersey Shore opposite Post."
