Captain Moffitt, a soldier of the Union Army, was killed in action near Clinton, Mississippi on 7-5-1864 while serving with Co. M of the 11th Illinois Cavalry.
Capt. Moffitt came into the Union Army as a Lt. on September 27,1861 in Chillicothe, Illinois, and went into Federal Service on December 20, 1861. He was 26, and stood 5ft.8 inches with brown hair and hazel eyes. He was single and a clerk.
Awards: Civil War Medal.
