Mrs. Effie Johnson Truitt, widow of Rollin Truitt, prominent former Chillicothe banker, passed away Saturday, August 27, at the Mayo Bros. hospital in Rochester, Minn., just 10 days following the death of her husband, which occurred August 17 at Oshkosh, Wis., Mr. Truitt being stricken while returning home from a visit with his wife, who had been critically ill for a number of weeks. Truitt, due to her critical condition had not been informed of the death of her husband.
Mrs. Truitt was born July 24, 1868, in Peoria, Ill., her parents being Robert F. And America Johnson, pioneer residents of Peoria County.
She is survived by one brother, Edward H. Johnson of Peoria, and five grandchildren, Henry, Jordan, Barbara, Janet and Robert Truitt, all of Chillicothe.
Funeral services for Mrs. Truitt were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the home in Chillicothe, with Rev. B. Carpenter of Peoria in charge, and interment was in the Chillicothe Cemetery.
