There were many articles in the New York Times in 1884-7 time frame about Patrick McBryde.
Born in Ireland and moved to Scotland because of religious persecution. He married Sarah McKenna had two children live- John and Arthur...2 children died young. Came to America and went back to bring his family to America but his wife refused to leave but 2 boys left with their father to America. Sarah McKenna McBryde went into a Catholic Monastery and was never seen again by her family. Even though her sons went to the monastery as young men ..she refused to see them. My Grandfather John would often cried at the mention of his mother.
Patrick died of Black Lung after so many years in the mines during his youth. He never remarried.
