John Cook

The fifth and last of the trustees named in the first deed for the meeting property in London Grove, was the eldest child of Peter and Elinor (Norman) Cook, and was born 7-2-1696, at Tarvin, in Cheshire, England. His parents, with their nine children, sailed for America in 1713, but the father died on the voyage or soon after their arrival. His widow married John Fincher in 1714 and they settled in London Grove. John Cook married in 1718 Elinor Langdale and had seven children, who were ancestors of many members of tliis meeting.

DB E, pg. 69 dated 14 March 1722, Tobias Collet et al sold 10 acres in the Northeast corner of the London Tract (also reffered to as Marlborough) for 5 shillings to John Smith, Joseph Pennock, Caleb Pusey, all of Marlborough, and John Cook of the London Tract, all yeoman.


DB H, pg. 199 dated 18 November 1723, The purchasers of the land of DB-E, pg. 69 declare that the money paid for the land was "ye proper mony of the People of God called Quakers belonging to London Grove Meeting." John Cook appears to have signed for himself.


DB H, pg. 201dated 26 May 1732, The executors of Henry Treviller, deceased, of Marlborough Twp., sold 10 acres of land in London Grove Twp., for 3 (pounds) to John Smith, gent., William Swain, Joseph Pennock, gent., all yeoman of Marlborough Twp., and John Cook, yeoman, of London Grove Twp.
