Stanley was a graduate of Oak Hill High School and Indiana Wesleyan University. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired as a maintenance supervisor with GM. He was a member of Grace Community Church and was active with the Masons in Converse.
Stanley loved to ride motorcycles with his brothers and sister, and golf in the summer. He especially enjoyed spending time with his three grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Sara, survivors include his son, Lance (Kristy) Carlson, Bremerton, Washington; brothers, Harold (Carrie) Carlson, Rolling Prairie, and Lewis (Gloria) Carlson, Grand Rapids, Michigan; sisters, Judy McBride, Westfield, Katie (Phil) Lewis, Georgetown, Texas, and Heidi Smith, Sweetser; and grandchildren, Seth Carlson, Tampa, Florida, Trinity Carlson, Bremerton, Washington, and Riley Hosack, Marietta, California.
His son, Jason B. Carlson, also preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN, with a Masonic service beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Services to celebrate Stanley’s life will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 13, 2016, at the funeral home with additional visitation one hour prior to the service, from 12-1 p.m. Pastor Don Miller will be officiating with burial following at Riverside Cemetery, Gas City.
