Robert was born in Vancouver's Memorial Hospital on July 28, 1965. He was the youngest of four children. From my earliest memories he was a livewire. If there was ever a "personality" it was him. He loved to get the attention of the family at all costs. I remember him standing in front of the television while we were watching something and he would not move until he got the reaction that he wanted. He always seemed to be content when he got "the reaction" and then he would settle down.
He was always starting something with his siblings and never tired of being chased down after being caught at whatever it was he was doing. He didn't care the consequences and enjoyed the challenge.
He started learning how to fly from the Evergreen Airport by Wally Olson (owner of Evergreen Airport in Vancouver and a personality himself!). By the time Robert was 16, he had enough hours to solo. One of my favorite pictures is the day that he solo-ed.
He was a sophmore at Hudson's Bay High School and known as "the class clown" by those that remember him all these years later.
A big thank you to Diane Midkiff for allowing me to take over this memorial for my baby brother.
