Dr Blackburn was a surgeon & ADC to Governor Joseph E. Brown during the Civil War, but afterwards was a newspaper publisher. He & his son Benjamin M. Blackburn were Editors/Publishers of the Madisonian in the late 1870's - early 1880's. They moved to Atlanta, where he died in 1889.

His wife, Frances A. Blackburn has a pension application on line, courtesy of GA virtual vault, Fulton Co, GA. Says her husband J.C.C. Blackburn was captured at the Battle of Columbus and he died Dec. 29, 1889. He was in 3rd GA regiment.

There is no relation to the Walkers. The Walker family bought the plot long after his death.
